Devices
For Learning
Students use a range of technologies every day to enrich their lives and support their learning. They are used to access information immediately and from any location, and to support teaching and learning. Use of technology allows students to:
- Work collaboratively, sharing ideas and interacting with their peers, both at home and at school
- Improve their research skills
- Become independent learners
- Become responsible digital citizens
Effective use of technology can enhance student learning and is used frequently throughout the MGHS curriculum. Both the SACE and the Australian Curriculum require students to have highly developed independent learning skills, research skills and the ability to present their work using a range of media.
Laptop Program starting in 2025
Starting in 2025, 女优合集 (MGHS) will implement a new Laptop Program to address the challenges of the current Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program and enhance the overall learning experience. Under this new program, parents and caregivers of Year 7 students will be required to purchase preselected devices from an approved reseller portal. This ensures compatibility and support for educational needs at MGHS. The devices will be configured and managed by MGHS while students attend the school. This program will roll up with the students as they progress through the years, eventually covering all year levels by 2030.
For Year 8 to 12 students who started during or before 2024, or enroll during 2025, the existing BYOD program will continue. These students may continue to use their existing devices. If a new device is needed at any stage, families may purchase a device from the portal for collection from MGHS. MGHS will not configure the device unless requested by the family. Devices purchased from outside the portal will be supported, but warranty or repairs will need to be resolved by the parents or caregivers.
The transition plan for the new Laptop Program is designed to be gradual. In 2025, the program will apply only to Year 7 students. In 2026, it will include both Year 7 and Year 8 students, and so on, until it covers all year levels by 2030. We appreciate your cooperation and support in this transition to enhance the educational experience at MGHS.
Benefits of the new Program
- Access to commercial hardware at educational pricing
- 3-year extended warranty on Windows devices
- Optional accidental damage protections available on all listed devices
- MGHS ICT Helpdesk will arrange all warranty and/or accidental damage repairs with the reseller, saving families time. (Costs may apply)
- Enables teachers to understand what student devices are capable of when it comes to different software they may use for learning
- MGHS ICT can maintain updates to the operating systems and software packages
How to Order a laptop
The school has partnered with Learning with Technologies (LWT) to provide up-to-date and reliable devices at educational pricing. Laptops will be delivered weekly to MGHS for configuration and then made available for collection from the school. Collection times and days may vary depending on the time of year.
